Amy works in oils in multiply approaches. She enjoys working en plein air, studio work with still life and painting images she has created in Photoshop. She focuses on painting "what she sees" but looks until she is emotionally connected to her subject matter. Amy is an exhibitor at the Mattie King gallery in Beaufort, NC and exhibits at the fall Voorhees Family Art Show in Asheville, NC.

The artist has studied and taught art for over 30 years. Her work with the youth-at-risk art program, as the Arts Program Director for the Carteret Arts Council, earned her the local Carteret County Council for Women's Distinguished Women of Carteret County- Arts Award. Her artistic practices have been impacted by several art educational experiences: studying at Virginia Commonwealth University, UNC Asheville, a Keven McPherson mentorship and numerous workshops from national artists.

She lives on the coast of North Carolina in Morehead City with her husband, and a small collection of rescue animals. Her studio is in the front parlor of her downtown turn-of-the-century home. When she is not painting she is visiting grandchildren, fixing up her old house, looking for treasures in second hand stores, or out on the boat with her husband.
